4 arrested after cockfighting bust in Las Vegas

Posted by Neil Shouse | Jan 29, 2018 | 0 Comments

Yesterday four men were arrested in a cockfighting bust in northeast Las Vegas. They are 18-year-old Angel AlcalaSanchez Jr., 46-year-old Angel AlcalaSanchez Sr., 48-year-old Pablo Castellanos, and 52-year-old Erasmo Fallad. The were booked at the Clark County Detention Center.

Castellanos is facing 19 counts of willfully or maliciously torturing, maiming or killing an animal in addition to animal fighting charges. The other three suspects face one count each of animal fighting. The police have not revealed how many birds were at the scene.

"Many ethical and loving pet owners get wrongfully charged with animal cruelty," said Las Vegas criminal defense attorney Michael Becker about this case. "Animals cannot talk, so it is important we look to the facts before acting on emotion. Lot of times, concerned neighbors tip off police about what they believe is suspicious activity but what turns out to be perfectly legal."
