Locating a person in custody at Elko County Jail

Currently the Elko Detention Facility does not provide inmate information online. People who suspect their friend or loved one may be incarcerated there should call the jail directly at (775) 777-2530 and provide the person's name.

How to bail out a person in custody at
Elko County Jail

Inmates may be bailed out twenty-four hours a day. Friends and family can post bail by cash at the jail at 775 West Silver Street, Elko, NV 89801. Otherwise the jail accepts payment by bail bondsmen.

Visiting a person in custody at Elko County Jail

Visiting hours at Elko County Jail occur twice a week: Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Visitors to Elko Jail do not need to call ahead. However, visitors are allowed only a half hour with the person in custody.

Phoning a person in custody at Elko County Jail

People in custody at Elko Jail may not receive incoming phone calls. However, they are given opportunities throughout the week to place outgoing collect calls.

People may send letters to persons in custody at Elko County Jail at 775 West Silver Street, Elko, NV 89801. But note that all mail is subject to search, and the jail reserves the right to intercept items.

There are three ways to put money on an inmate's books at Elko County Jail:

  • U.S. Mail: People may send a money order of up to $75 made payable to the Elko County Jail with the inmate's name on the memo line. The jail address is Elko County Jail, 775 West Silver Street, Elko, NV 89801.


  • Online: People may transfer funds through the website www.govpaynow.com with the location code 5500.


People in custody typically use their inmate accounts to buy toiletries, snacks and other items from the jail commissary.

People who are booked at Elko Jail may release their wallet, keys or other property they are carrying to an outside person. The recipient of the property needs to go to the jail in person at 775 West Silver Street, Elko, NV 89801. He/she also needs to produce a photo ID and fill out release paperwork.

Elko Jail has no nurse on staff. Inmates in need of medical attention are taken to a local hospital.
