Yesterday Las Vegas police arrested 34-year-old Cunningham Elementary School teacher Suzanna Raygoza-Rosen on one count of felony child abuse. In November, the first-grade teacher allegedly grabbed a 6-year-old student for not listening to her, causing him injuries. Other students at the school reportedly witnessed the grabbing.
Ms. Raygoza-Rosen has been a Clark County School District Employee since 2007. She has been "assigned to home" for the last three months while an investigation was ongoing. She is the third CCSD teacher arrested so far in 2018 on a child abuse allegation.
"An unfortunate reality is that kids sometimes lie. And kids get bruises all the time, and usually not for sinister reasons," commented Las Vegas criminal defense attorney Michael Becker. "Many wonderful teachers have been victims of false allegations due to young kids making up stories, not realizing the consequences of their actions. Child accusers require a top child psychologist to examine them for truthfulness. Depending on the results of the examination results, the criminal charges could be dropped."
