The felony crime of putting a gun on a drone in Nevada
NRS 493.106 makes it a felony to weaponize an unmanned aerial vehicle (drone) or to operate a drone that has a gun, bomb or other weapon attached to it.
Putting a weapon on a drone or operating a drone with a weapon is a Nevada category D felony. Punishment can include:
- 1 - 4 years in Nevada prison, and
- maybe a fine of up to $5,000.
Discharging a weapon from a drone you have weaponized is a Nevada category C felony. Penalties from firing a weapon from a drone in Nevada can include:
- 1 – 5 years in Nevada prison, and
- maybe a fine of up to $10,000.
