Today a jury in the Fifth Judicial District Court in Pahrump Nevada, found our client "not guilty" of all charges, which included five counts of the Nevada crime of sexual assault on a child under 14-years-old. The acquittal capped a dramatic week-long trial that culminated with our client suffering a medical episode, causing him to be absent for the last half of the proceedings.
During the trial, Las Vegas Defense Group attorney Michael Becker stressed to the jury how the victims did not come forward with their accusations until years after they allegedly occurred. Mr. Becker examined on the witness stand our client's wife of 30 years, who said she would never have stayed with her husband if she believed he committed the crimes he is being prosecuted for. Mr. Becker also cross-examined a sheriff's deputy, who admitted that one of the purported victims recanted the allegations.
The jury was comprised of eight men and four women. They took very little time to return the unanimous verdicts of "not guilty" on all counts. (UPDATE: Read about another victory of Las Vegas Defense Group, this time concerning the Nevada Supreme Court reversing a rape conviction.)
