1. Teller County Inmate Search
Friends and family are free to call the jail at (719) 687-7770 to obtain information about detainees. (Use the “booking department” extension.) For a phone-based inmate search, you will need to provide the full name, birthday, and country of birth.
Alternatively, you can use the sheriff’s online database to locate an individual who may be incarcerated at the Teller Detention Facility. You can input the individual’s information or use initial tabs to locate all individuals booked into the jail listed by the first letter of last names. Information listed includes booking number, booking date, gender, height, weight, and release date, if applicable.
2. Bail Bonding in Divide
In most cases, arrestees can obtain temporary freedom from the Teller County jail by posting a bail bond. In some cases, a detainee may be released on his or her own recognizance, meaning no payment is required. To determine the bond amount, call the jail at (719) 687-7770.
To pay a cash bond, you need to come into the jail and present cash at the front desk. No other forms of payment will be accepted. The lobby is open seven days a week, 24-hours a day. Note that there will be an additional $50 cash fee due upon payment of the bond.
In lieu of paying cash, a family member or friend can seek the services of a local bail bondsman to pay an inmate’s bond. Bonding agencies charge a percentage fee for this service (often 10 or 15%), and will likely want to attach collateral property to the loan. You can locate a bail bondsman online or through your phone directory.
Bear in mind, all money or property put up to post bail is subject to forfeiture if the inmate does not show up for his or her scheduled hearings. Learn more on bail bonding here: How to post bail in Colorado.

7. Life at the Jail
Although Teller County Jail is classified as a “medium security” facility, it upholds standards similar to a maximum security unit. There is a high guard-to-inmate ratio, and movement within the facility is strictly supervised.
The jail is divided into pods, with 2-man cells located on two levels and a large common area that includes floor-affixed tables and chairs. Inmates are offered three meals a day and limited outdoor exercise opportunities for about an hour every other day. In the common area, inmates can play games or watch TV. A library, gym, barber shop, chapel, and commissary are accessible to inmates.
8. Medications
Prescription medications are distributed in the jail, as needed. All medications must be verified ahead of time through a physician and pharmacy. Narcotic medication is not allowed. Family and friends may not bring in medication for inmates. For questions or concerns, call the jail at (719) 687-7770, and choose the extension for “medications.”
