Man arrested for allegedly driving into wife at Welcome to Las Vegas Sign

Yesterday, 39-year-old John Treese was arrested for allegedly backing into his girlfriend, 52-year-old Lisa Ann Gori, at the Welcome to Las Vegas Sign. The couple reportedly had an argument over who would drive their Honda Odyssey. Then Gori exited the car and walked to the median at the Strip and Russell Road. Witnesses claim the Honda drove backward onto the median, where it hit Gori. Treese is at the Clark County Detention Center and faces a murder charge.

"If it was an innocent accident, then Treese could not be guilty of murder," Las Vegas criminal defense attorney Michael Becker commented about the case. "Or if it was something he did in the heat of passion, the charge should be reduced to voluntary manslaughter. Or if it was a question of simple negligence, the charge could be reduced to vehicular manslaughter. Depending on the facts, ti may be possible for him to get the charge reduced or dismissed."
