Las Vegas English teacher arrested for lewdness with a minor

This past Friday, 37-year old West Prep Academy middle-school English teacher Kweku Turkson was arrested on three counts of lewdness with a child under 14 and one count of attempted lewdness with a child under 14.  Turkson is currently in custody without bail at the Clark County Detention Center. His 72-hour hearing is scheduled for tomorrow morning.

"It is important to remember that there is a presumption of innocence," Las Vegas criminal defense attorney Michael Becker commented on this matter. "I've handled many similar cases where the defendant was the innocent victim of false allegations and unlawful searches and seizures."

Turkson was employed at West Prep since the fall semester of 2015. There has been an internal CCSD investigation since this past October, during which time he was "assigned to home." Meanwhile, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police was also investigating this matter. CCSD is still investigating the case.
