Las Vegas mother accused of 2nd-degree murder for baby’s death

Yesterday, 36-year-old Raelene Jemison was arrested for second-degree murder in connection with her 10-month old daughter's death. Two months earlier, the child's father Eric Chu was charged with murder for allegedly killing the child. She is being held at the Clark County Detention Center.

"Nothing is worse than a child's death," commented Las Vegas criminal defense attorney Michael Becker. "Whenever a minor sustains injuries or passes away, law enforcement understandably will suspect the child's parents. But they are not necessarily to blame...

"I was the defense attorney in a case where a devoted father was arrested for causing major injuries to his infant through shaking. The truth is that the child had an unfortunate accident. After not one but two trials, my client won an acquittal."
