56-year-old Pedestrian Killed at Decatur-Tropicana Intersection

Posted by Neil Shouse | Feb 20, 2018 | 0 Comments

This morning a 56-year-old male pedestrian was killed when a 2017 Chevrolet Express van allegedly drove onto a sidewalk near Tropicana Ave. and Decatur Blvd. The van reportedly drove into two light poles as well. The pedestrian died at the scene, and the van driver was taken to University Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver was not impaired.

"Perhaps the van driver had a medical episode that caused him to leave the roadway," commented Las Vegas criminal defense attorney Michael Becker when he heard about the case. "Or perhaps another emergency occurred that the van driver had no control over. If he gets arrested for vehicular manslaughter, it may be possible to get the charge dismissed if it can be demonstrated he was not negligent."
