Pedestrian severely injured in North Las Vegas after being hit by car

Yesterday evening, a woman in her 50s sustained life-threatening injuries after being hit by a car while crossing Lake Mead Blvd. by foot in North Las Vegas. She reportedly crossed outside of a crosswalk. The driver is cooperating with police and does not appear to have been under the influence.

"Pedestrian knockdowns are a frequent occurrence in Las Vegas," Las Vegas personal injury attorney Michael Becker commented. "Even if the pedestrian crossed outside of a crosswalk, she may still have a negligence claim against the driver. Pedestrians can still recover damages as long as they can show that the driver was at least 50% at fault. If successful, the pedestrian may be able to recover significant compensatory and possibly punitive damages."
