92-year-old pedestrian killed by car in Las Vegas

Posted by Neil Shouse | Feb 18, 2018 | 0 Comments

Yesterday a 92-year-old pedestrian, Elvira Morales-Gonzalez, was killed when a 2002 Dodge Ram hit her as she was crossing McLeod Drive (north of E. Desert Inn Rd.), approximately 500 feet from the closest crosswalk. The Dodge was driving southbound, and Morales-Gonzalez was crossing eastward. The driver did not leave the scene and was reportedly not impaired by alcohol or drugs.

"This sounds like a tragic accident," commented Las Vegas criminal defense attorney Michael Becker. "If the Dodge Ram driver gets arrested for vehicular manslaughter, it may be possible to get the charge reduced or dismissed if it can be shown he was not negligent. It sounds like the victim did not stick to the crosswalk, and her age may have made her confused."
