On Monday evening, 48-year-old Juan Rodriguez Gomez was killed by an SUV when he was walking across the northbound lanes of Rainbow Blvd. by Washington Ave. The 74-year-old SUV driver was not reported to be impaired and cooperated with police. Gomez's death was the 28th fatal crash that Las Vegas Metro has investigated so far in 2018.
"Pedestrian knockdowns are frequent occurrences in Las Vegas," Las Vegas personal injury attorney Michael Becker commented. "The victim's family may have a wrongful death case against the SUV driver. It the family proves that the driver was negligent, they may be able to recover hefty compensatory and possibly punitive damages."
