Alleged child rapist arrested in Tonopah

Last week 39-year-old Kenneth Cardenas of Tonopah was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a 3-year-old girl four years ago. Earlier this month, the Nye County Sheriff's office received an alert from an outside agency regarding the alleged assault. The Sheriff's office commenced an investigation, which included Cardenas submitting to an interview by Nye County's Detective Perry.

During the interview, Cardenas allegedly made incriminating statements that aligned with the victim's story. However, the Sheriff's office did not disclose what Cardenas's statements were. Cardenas was reportedly arrested without incident.

Currently, it is unknown where Cardenas is being incarcerated. His bail amount also remains unknown. For more on this story, go to:
