On this page, our Las Vegas Criminal Defense attorneys give you general information about Las Vegas's three courts: Las Vegas Municipal Court, Las Vegas Justice Court, and Clark County District Court (also called the Eighth Judicial District Court).
Las Vegas Municipal Court handles misdemeanor and traffic cases allegedly occurring within the city limits. Las Vegas Justice Court hears all other criminal cases in Las Vegas. A Justice Court case may eventually be transferred (or "bound over") to Clark County District Court if the criminal charges include felonies or gross misdemeanors.

The Regional Justice Center enforces a strict dress code. Refrain from wearing shorts, tank tops, halter-tops, or shirts that show your midriff. All hats and sunglasses must be taken off prior to entering the courtroom.
The Regional Justice Center provides interpreters for non-English speaking defendants during court hearings. It's a good idea to call the court before your hearing, though, to make sure one will be available.
If you can't afford an attorney, the court clerk will give you an application form for a court-appointed attorney. However, we strongly encourage you to retain private counsel for all criminal matters.
