Elko Municipal Court hears all Nevada misdemeanor
cases stemming from crimes that allegedly occurred within Elko's incorporated city limits. The court has the jurisdiction to handle these cases from initial arraignment through trial and final disposition.

Jurisdiction of Elko Justice Court
Elko Justice Court hears all Nevada misdemeanor cases involving alleged crimes occurring in Elko's unincorporated areas. In addition, the court hears all
Nevada felony cases involving alleged crimes occurring anywhere in Elko. However, felony cases that are not resolved by the Nevada preliminary hearing stage will be "bound over" (transferred) to the Fourth Judicial District Court in Elko.
